SmartNP Assist surfaces potentially applicable Australian NP MBS item numbers for clinician review, including current core NP attendance items and separate phone and video equivalents. Eligibility, item rules and every billing decision remain the responsibility of the treating clinician.

Question 3

Does SmartNP Assist help with NP prescribing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SmartNP Assist includes a dedicated Prescribing tab that analyses each consultation and provides: PBS item numbers for prescribed medications, Schedule 4 (S4) and Schedule 8 (S8) flags, drug interaction checks, contraindication alerts, non-pharmacological alternatives, and monitoring plans. It also documents prescribing rationale for NMBA audit compliance.

Question 4

Does SmartNP Assist detect mandatory reporting obligations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SmartNP Assist includes a Safety Flags tab that scans consultation transcripts and SOAP notes for mandatory reporting triggers including child protection concerns, notifiable diseases, domestic violence, elder abuse, and mental health risk. When triggered, it generates an ISBAR escalation handover document and a mandatory reporting documentation checklist to assist NPs in meeting their legal obligations.

Question 5

How does SmartNP Assist help with NMBA compliance?

Accepted Answer

SmartNP Assist includes an AHPRA/NMBA Registration Compliance tab that assesses each consultation against the NMBA Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice (2014, revised 2021).
